The Journal Club is an opportunity to share scientific knowledges and discuss key themes related to the doctorate.
In a 45 minutes session, every Friday at 2:30 PM (Paris time) via videoconference, the speakers present a scientific article or ongoing research. This presentation is then followed by a discussion. The Journal Club sessions are conducted in English or French by researchers from our Interdisciplinary Doctoral Laboratory (LID) or by guest researchers.
Our Journal Club is devided into five themes, corresponding to major axes of the scientific literature on the doctorate, and linked to the research axes of the LID.
This theme addresses the decisions and strategies implemented at the institutional an political levels regarding the doctorate and the career paths of PhD holders, their developments, and their impacts. More broadly, it addresses public policies supporting research and innovation at both national and international levels.
This theme addresses the skills developed during the doctorate, ranging from technical skills to transferable skills. It also addresses how these skills are implemented and sought after in the job market, as well as the career paths of PhD holders.
This theme addresses the diversity of the doctoral population (gender, age, origin, previousbackground, disability status, etc…), the specific issues faced by underrepresented populations, and the ways to promote and support the diversity of doctoral and postdoctoral profiles.
This theme addresses doctoral supervision : supervisory pratices, supervisors’ experiences, the supervisory relationship, and the reception of supervision practices by PhD candidates. The research particularly presents the effects of supervision on the doctoral experience.
This theme addresses the experience of the doctorate by PhD candidates: well-being, satisfaction, research productivity, as well as identity development and socialization Research specifically focusing on the health of PhD candidates and PhD holders (mental, physical, social), ans ways to preserve it, is also presented there.
